Ans: You should be registered in Foundation Course with the Board of Studies of the Institute for a minimum period of four months on or before the 1st day of the month in which the examination is held. For example, you should be registered in Foundation Course on or before 1st February, 2025 for June, 2025 Foundation Examination and on or before 1st August, 2024 for December, 2024 Foundation Examination. Before appearing in the Foundation Examination, you should also have appeared in Class 12th Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government or the State Government as equivalent thereto

PAPER 1: ACCOUNTING (100 MARKS)
Objective
To develop an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of accounting and apply the same in preparing financial statements and simple problem-solving.
Contents
- Theoretical Framework
(i) Meaning and Scope of Accounting.
(ii) Accounting concepts, principles and conventions.
(iii) Capital and revenue expenditure, capital and revenue receipts, contingent assets and contingent liabilities.
(iv) Accounting policies.
(v) Accounting as a measurement discipline – valuation principles, accounting estimates. Accounting Standards – concepts and objectives. - Accounting Process
(i) Recording accounting transactions: principles of double entry book- keeping, books of original entry – journal, subsidiary books, cash book, ledger-format, posting from journal and subsidiary books, balancing of accounts.
(ii) Preparation of trial balance.
(iii) Rectification of errors. - Bank Reconciliation Statement: Introduction, reasons and preparation of bank reconciliation statement.

PAPER 2: BUSINESS LAWS (100 MARKS)
Objective
To develop general legal knowledge of the law of Contracts, Sales and understanding of various forms of businesses and their functioning to regulate business environment and to acquire the ability to address basic application-oriented issues.

Note: If new legislations are enacted in place of the existing legislations, the syllabus would include the corresponding provisions of such new legislations with effect from dates notified by the Institute.
